Mit "The Departed: Unter Feinden" (2006) wagte sich Martin Scorsese (u.a. "Taxi Driver") an das US-Remake von "Infernal Affairs"...
Dem Gangsterboss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson, u.a.
Lau Kin Ming (Andy Lau, u.a. Chan Wing Yan (Tony Leung, u.a.
"Infernal Affairs 3" (2003)...
"The Departed: Unter Feinden" startete am 07.

CS: [...] What's going on with "Departed 2"?
Wahlberg: I don't know. They're still trying to make "Italian Job 2" so who knows. If it's worth doing and it's better than the first than it's worth entertaining. People loved the first one. If we can make it better than the first then we'll go on to do the prequel and go on to bring everybody back for that.
CS: Is there a script or have you heard anything about it?
Wahlberg: No, they've tried many scripts on the "Italian Job", but we'll see. I'm never holding my breath.
CS: What about a script for "The Departed 2"?
Wahlberg: I don't know if they're working on it yet. I have no idea what's going on. [...]

MTV.com meldet... Last year, Mark Wahlberg let slip to MTV News that the talent behind "The Departed" (namely director Martin Scorsese and screenwriter William Monahan, both Oscar winners for the film) were hard at work on both a sequel AND a prequel to the crime drama about corruption in the Boston police department.
"We may do another one, because it's based on a Hong Kong film ['Infernal Affairs'], and there is a trilogy. So we may do a sequel with a new cast, and a prequel and bring back the rest of the guys," he said. In fact, Wahlberg even talked of a substantial role for Scorsese favorite Robert De Niro.
So, Qui Bono? It's now more than a year later. Where does the project stand?
"They're [still] developing it," Wahlberg sighed. "If it can be better than the first, then great. I'll be all for it. I'm not interested in going for the paycheck. I love 'Godfather 2' but, then again, I don't like 'Godfather 3.'"
So in the meantime, thinking about "The Departed" gives us reason to bring up genius quotes like the above and others. My personal favorite? "I'm the guy who does his job - you must be the other guy."
"Marty always loved that line. He always busted up when I said it," Wahlberg recalled. "I was like, that's not one of the funny lines! But it is. People love that line. It was one of the few lines I didn't butcher and try to do a long rant imitating my mom."

Moviehole meldet... After he accepted his Oscar for "The Departed" (again, hell yeah!), Marty Scorsese headed backstage to talk to the press... who were just as giddy as he was that he'd scored the long-overdue statue.
Reporters were quick to ask about the sequel/prequel rumours.
Scorsese said it depends on the script - currently being written by William Monahan - whether or not he takes up the directing reigns again. If he does, he said he is indeed planning on getting old mate Robert De Niro to do it.
"That would be a good idea", he told reporters. [...]

"The Departed" wurde bei der Oscar-Verleihung mit 4 Oscars ausgezeichnet, u.a. in den Kategorien "Bester Film" und "Beste Regie"...
[31.01.2007]
MovieWeb meldet... Warner Bros. Pictures is in talks with screenwriter, William Monahan for a sequel to the crime thriller, The Departed.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film has garnered five Oscar nominations and is the biggest boxoffice hit of Scorsese's long career. The Hollywood Reporter says Monahan has already started working on a take that would bring back the temperamental foul-mouthed cop played by Mark Wahlberg, who received an Oscar nomination for the role, and introduce a new character to be played by none other than Robert De Niro.
Sources caution that Scorsese would need to approve any take before development was to move forward. A prequel is not being ruled out, either. The Departed is an adaptation of the Hong Kong pic Infernal Affairs; the studio also had option rights to the movie's two sequels. It is unclear if this new movie would fall under that agreement since Monahan's take could end up being an original story.
The Departed DVD hits stores February 13th.

Andrew Lau and Alan Mak's Infernal Affairs - The Trilogy
Englischsprachiges Taschenbuch
156 Seiten (28. Februar 2007)
"Infernal Affairs" has received journalistic, popular and corporate notice but little vigorous critical attention. In this book, Gina Marchetti explores the way this example of Hong Kong's cinematic eclecticism have crossed borders as a story, a commercial product and a work of art; and has had an undeniable impact on current Hong Kong cinema. Moreover, she uses this film to highlight the way Hong Kong cinema continues to be inextricably intertwined with global film culture and the transnational movie market.
