Bella Swan entscheidet sich von ihrer Mutter in Phoenix, Arizona zu ihrem Vater nach Forks, einer Kleinstadt im Staate Washington an der Westküste zu ziehen. Innerlich schliesst sie mir ihrem sonnigen Leben ab und erwartet das öde Leben einer verregneten Kleinstadt. Doch dann begegnet sie Edward Cullen und seine Halbgeschwistern in der Highschool. Teenager, die Bella auf Grund ihrer mysteriösen Ausstrahlung anziehen. Die Cullens scheinen etwas zu verbergen und als Bella und Edward sich näher kommen, beginnt für das Paar ein ganz neues turbulentes Leben. Schnell wird beiden klar, dass sie sich lieben... Eine komplizierte Liebe wie sich herausstellt, denn Edward und seine Familie sind Vampire und Edward dürstet es nach Bellas Blut... Doch selbst das schreckt Bella nicht ab, sie vertraut ihren neuen Freunden mit den übermenschlichen Kräften, die sich unüblicherweise nur von Tierblut ernähren.
Doch was wenn fremde Vampire nach Forks kommen? Können Edward und seine Familie Bella vor James, Laurent und Victoria schützen, Vampire die einzig Menschen jagen?

There was a lot to be thankful for this week as the Thanksgiving holiday kicked the box office into high gear and though three family offerings were fighting for business, they all succumbed to the second weekend of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (Summit), the first half of the final chapter of the fan favorite supernatural romance series, which brought in $42 million in its second weekend, down 70% from its opening, and $62.3 million over the five-day holiday including Wednesday and Thursday. This brings its domestic total to $221 million, down slightly from the second movie New Moon's $230 million, which followed the same release pattern two years ago. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $489.3 million since opening twelve days ago, adding $71.5 million from 68 international markets this weekend. Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is currently the fifth-biggest movie of 2011, but considering it's only been in theaters ten days, we can see it making a play for third place by the time the holidays are over. Based on the Stephenie Meyer book, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" grossed $139.5 million domestically from 4,061 theaters this weekend and added another $144 million overseas for the five days in 54 markets. The $139.5 million domestic opening is the fifth-best ever, trailing just The Twilight Saga: New Moon's $142.8 million, Spider-Man 3's $151.1 million, The Dark Knight's $158.4 million and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2's $169.2 million. The $283.5 million worldwide opening is the 10th largest ever and a franchise best, passing up "New Moon's" $274.9 million launch.

Kristen Stewart has revealed that the sex scene she filmed with Robert Pattinson in Breaking Dawn - Part 1 was originally so explicit, it was rated R (the equivalent of a UK film rating 15).
Speaking exclusively in the December issue of GLAMOUR, she said of the steamy role: "It was so weird, it didn't even feel like we were doing a Twilight film. I was like, 'Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!'
"It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They re-cut it."
But that wasn't the only scene that was a little strange for K-Stew. The wedding scene, she explained, saw her placed under strict observation in order to protect details of the dress from being released.
"I had to be shrouded in secrecy the entire two days of filming," she said.
"It was crazy... I was on full lockdown, as if I was wearing millions of dollars' worth of diamonds."
